The Howling Hex was released in 2003 by Neil Michael Hagerty and The Howling Hex.
On the cover, green circles encase white triangles in an 8 by 8 grid. Each equilateral triangle is rotated to a different degree, making them appear to point in different directions. This creates a great sense of rhythm and movement in an otherwise static grid.
The triangle becomes a motif throughout the packaging. Labels on both records reference the cover with a circle encasing a white triangle. The back cover of the album uses these same triangles to break up text. They also appear within the insert as indicators in a diagram.
The insert contained in the album is created from a single folded sheet. It's front and back resemble the iconic cover system of National Geographic Magazine.
